Simmered Pumpkin

This recipe is an anti-aging powerhouse.
Pumpkin is rich in beta-carotene, which helps remove cholesterol from the body. Plus, it enhances the skin and can make you appear younger. Rolled barley contains lots of protein, fiber, vitamin, and minerals to support anti-aging efforts.


  • 1/6 Pumpkin
  • 2 tbsp Oshimugi (Rolled Barley)
  • 100g (3.53 oz / 0.22 lb.) Ground Beef & Pork Mix
  • Some Water
  • 3 tbsp Cooking Sake
  • 1 & 1/2 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 & 1/2 tbsp Soy Souce


  • Cut the pumpkin into bite size pieces
  • Wash the rolled barley and soak in a plenty of water for 30 minutes
  • In a pan, place the pumpkins, drained rolled barley, and beef & pork mix
  • Add enough water to cover the pumpkins
  • Add 3 tbsp of sake
  • Break up the ground meat
  • Cover with the wooden drop lid and simmer at medium heat
  • When the liquid boils, reduce the heat, and remove the lid and simmer for a while
  • When the pumpkin is soaked, add 1 & 1/2 tbsp each of sugar and soy sauce
  • Wait for liquid to thoroughly soak in, and serve
